Looking for a quick, easy (and inexpensive) way to generate some social media buzz? Try a Photo Booth at your next event. With a simple backdrop and a few inexpensive props you will have a free benefit for your attendees and a painless way to get your fans to share your favorite hashtags on social media.

Lindsey Henley and Rebekah Key run the photo booths at Wildwood Community Church in Norman, OK. They found an unused 8′ x 10′ background in the children’s department, and some cheap props on Etsy. Wildwood has offered the photo booth on Baptism Sunday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day. Upcoming events will include Back to School, Graduation, and the church’s upcoming 50th Anniversary. They have seen a fantastic response by their members.

Some groups have provided photographers to staff the photo booth. But with most people carrying cameras in their phones, an easier solution seems to be having someone who can take pictures using the attendee’s own phone. This also eliminates having to distribute photos later.

When promoting the photo booth, ask attendees to share the photos using your church or event hashtag. This gives your organization free social media buzz with very little effort or cost.
